چکیده

Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) in single energy mode has been shown to permit the visualisation of bone and soft tissue, such as patellar tendon through two-dimensional sagittal imaging. However, there is no validated DXA-based measurement Achilles moment arm (dAT). The aims this study were: 1) compare vivo DXA derived measurements dAT at rest against two previously methods: excursion (TE) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) three ankle angles (-5°, 0° +10°). 2) analyse intra-day reliability method all between methods. Twelve healthy adults (mean ± SD: 31.4 9.5 years; 174.0 cm; 76.2 16.6 kg) participated study, involving test–retest scans, ultrasound scans one MRI scan. was defined distance from centre calcaneal-tibial joint axis (AT) muscle–tendon line action. measures were significantly greater than (19.7–24.9%) 45.2% larger TE method. technique high [CV = 1.38%; ICC 0.96] despite consistently lengths obtained using DXA, DEXA data strongly correlated (r 0.878, p < 0.001). In conclusion, allowed for highly reproducible rest, which implications calculation AT forces ability predict tool other, thereby providing a novel basis contrast existing future studies.

The human patellar tendon moment arm assessed in vivo using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry.

Accurate assessment of muscle-tendon forces in vivo requires knowledge of the muscle-tendon moment arm. Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) can produce 2D images suitable for visualising both tendon and bone, thereby potentially allowing the moment arm to be measured but there is currently no validated DXA method for this purpose. The aims of this study were (i) to compare in vivo measuremen...

Validity and reliability of dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry for the assessment of abdominal adiposity.

A number of methods exist for the estimation of abdominal obesity, ranging from waist-to-hip ratio to computed tomography (CT). Although dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) was originally used to measure bone density and total body composition, recent improvements in software allow it to determine abdominal fat mass. Sixty-five men and women aged 18-72 yr participated in a series of studies ...

Comparison of Bone Mineral Density Measured by Dual X-ray, Axial Dual-energy Photon X-ray Absorptiometry and Laser Absorptiometry of Calcaneus

The objective of this study was to validate the use of bone mineral measurements of the calcaneus bone by dual X-ray and laser (DXL) in a cross-sectional study carried out in an osteoporosis clinic. Measurements of bone mineral density (BMD) at proximal femur and spine were obtained by dual-energy photon X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA). Osteoporosis was defined by a DEXA T-score <-2.5 at the femora...

the role of russia in transmission of energy from central asia and caucuses to european union
